Our Family & Our Farm
Four Cow Farm is a real farm nestled in the hills of the Blackhall Range in South-East Queensland. Today, Four Cow Farm is no longer a working farm but it was originally part of a much larger dairy farm. The farm overlooks The Glasshouse Mountains, arguably the most spectacular panorama in Queensland! Our region is blessed with a wonderful climate with long sunny days, short, mild winters, and high rainfall, making this one of the most fertile areas of Queensland.
Four Cow Farm hosts a small herd of cattle (just four!), alpacas, goats, chickens, some horses, and a host of wildlife. In addition to Nanna’s large veggie patch, which provides for all our needs (and some of our neighbours), the farm is home to a large number of fruit trees which provide us with a steady crop of mandarin and washington oranges, lemons, limes, mangoes, custard apples, and bananas, all of which grow without any fertilisers or pesticides, thanks to our perfect climate and fertile soil.
Part of Four Cow Farm farm is a wildlife conservation area forested with native trees. From time to time, we see koalas, wallabies, echidnas, an amazing variety of native birds, and a huge variety of reptiles and amphibians.
Four Cow Farm sits amongst a very productive agricultural community. Our neighbours raise beef and dairy cattle; others grow avocados, and another is home to one of the largest macadamia plantations in the world. Even water buffalo thrive here with one farm producing genuine buffalo milk mozzarella cheese. Australia may be known as “the dry continent” but our Blackhall Range region is an oasis, receiving about 2 metres of rainfall per year, promoting healthy living and top quality agricultural produce.
Four Cow Farm is also proud of its environmental consciousness. All the water used on the farm including that for both human and animal consumption, as well as irrigation, comes from harvested rainwater. Our electricity supply is generated on-site by solar and, by agreement with our power supplier, all of the electricity used on the farm is generated from renewable sources.
The Four Cow Farm range was started by a Midwife, Mum & Grandmother (with hundreds of deliveries to her credit) who wanted to make creams and balms that were as good and natural as possible for her two little grandchildren (one of whom had eczema). Using time-tested recipes and traditional ingredients, Nanna’s labour of love began as a gift to her two little ones. Since then our range has expanded to include the grown-ups, pre-and post pregnancy skin and mature skin.
Our simple, honest, hand-worked and time-tested recipes are made with only the very best all-natural ingredients, sourced from suppliers we know and trust. They are made from Nanna’s own hand-crafted recipes, without the complex mix of unnecessary fragrances and chemicals so common today, and with absolutely no artificial or chemical additivies.
Today, the whole family is involved in helping to make and share Nanna’s products all over the world. We hope that you and your family enjoy using our natural skincare range as much as we enjoy making them.
